The Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee ( TTOC ) continues to push ahead with its efforts to improve sport governance within the local Olympic movement.
A major step forward is the expected approval at the TTOC's upcoming Annual General Meeting scheduled for 30th April at Olympic House of the amendment of the Organization’s Constitution to include a Good Governance commitment.
The commitment will require all affilated member sport organizations to adhere to basic governance principles.
Professor Leigh Robinson who facilitated the TTOC historic good governance week held November last year will return to conduct a second good sport governance workshop scheduled for 28th April.
Additionally the TTOC is in discussions with the Sport Integrity Global Alliance ( SIGA ) in respect of supporting a Global effort to improve Sport Integrity and Governance .
The TTOC believes that success acheived by individual arhletes and national or regional teams must not distract from the reality that sport governance in the Caribbean including Trinidad and Tobago must be modernized, significantly improved and made fit for purpose.
Regional and national sport leaders and administrators must not hide behind on the field success to imply, suggest, validated or excuse current sport governance behaviour and practice that do not adhere to basic good governance principles.

The T&T Olympic Committee (TTOC) in November 2015 hosted its first ever “Good Sport Governance” week.
A series of meetings were held with national sport organisations and sport stakeholders. Professor Leigh Robinson, head of sport studies at the University of Stirling provided expertise in sport governance. Supporting, the TTOC in its ongoing efforts to build leadership and governance capacity, knowledge and skill set is Olympic Solidarity.
A key aspect of the good sport governance week was the consultation aimed at including sport stakeholders views in the proposed good governance code/ commitment for sport in T&T initiative that the TTOC is championing.
The TTOC appointed in 2015 its first Good Governance Commission.
